Visual and Performing Arts
The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program is an exciting department where we develop student artistic skills through knowledge, practice, and performance as they experience contemporary trends in art, music theory and practice. We create opportunities and platforms for students to ‘shout’ their talent through exhibitions, competitions, various concerts and events in the school and community. VAPA curriculum follows American standards adapted from California and Common Core.
Students in grades Kindergarten through grade 8 meet in music at least once a week and in art once a week. Students in grades 4 & 5 have the opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular chamber orchestra and/or choir led by our elementary music teachers. Students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular groups such as mini-orchestra, drama, choir, and art club.
Students in Grades 9-12 must earn one credit from the following VAPA courses:
Art & Creativity (regular and advanced)
AP Studio Art
Contemporary Rock Band
