Kelley Ridings

Dr. Kelley Ridings, International K-12 Principal

The guiding ideal Dr. Kelley Ridings follows “is to assure that every decision we make amplifies that we are doing what is best for students, providing them with the greatest possible access to learning skills so that they will be able to engage in personal educational growth throughout their entire lives. I am confident that all students can find great accomplishment in any subject when that subject is made accessible to them in a way that excites their imaginations and creativity.” As the International K-12 Principal, Dr. Ridings sees his role as to foster the growth of a dynamic school community of students, families, and staff who will transform SMIC into the premiere international-style school in Shanghai.

Dr. Ridings' nearly three decades in education includes administrative experience as a high school and elementary principal, a former Academic Affairs Director at SMIC Private School – Shanghai, a district-level administrator, and a superintendent. His teaching experience includes high school social studies, English and university-level history. Coming from New Mexico in the United States, he has also worked in schools in Mexico and South Korea. Dr. Ridings holds a Ph.D. educational administration a master’s degree in history, and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.


Becky Shih

Dr. Becky Shih, Principal of Curriculum Integration Center

Ms. Chai joined in 2008 and she was appointed the Director of Administration Office and later in 2014 as the Director of Admission Office in Shanghai SMIC School (and SMIC-I). Shirley has been involved in many successful projects, and has been a key member and host of the Art Charity Program and many school-wide events in the last 10 years. Prior to SMIC, she held Finance Manager and Senior Financial Analyst roles for 18 years in the world-renowned companies such as Applied Materials, Silicon Graphics, and Oracle.
