Growing Love with SMIC Garden
SMIC Counseling provides personalized support for the social, emotional, and academic learning needs of our students through Life Skills classes, personal counseling, standardized test administration, academic recovery programs, as well as group or individualized college and career advising.
The CIC language program of K-12 Chinese and high school Spanish and French courses offers a strong language instruction sequence. The principal objective of the program is for students to communicate at a high degree of proficiency.
With an experienced faculty of over 200 foreign staff from 35 countries and students from 37 countries, SMIC-I’s diversified community and programs develop our students’ world view, preparing them to be global citizens.
Persons of Character
A person of character displays attributes such as honesty, integrity, responsibility, respect, and kindness. We develop and reinforce these traits so that by the time our students graduate, they demonstrate these characteristics.
SMIC-I fosters a student-centered learning environment that engages and empowers students to be independent, lifelong learners by providing them an array of opportunities to pursue their academic and personal interests.
Students are provided with a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing through athletics, physical health, and life skills programs. Mental health, nutrition, functional fitness, and healthy relationships are a major focus throughout the school; enabling students to develop skills and techniques to be active for life.
Private School International
Since 2016, the USA-based Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has accredited SMIC-International. Accreditation gives the school community assurances that we meet high standards of quality, student-centered international-style education.
This past week from October 18 - 22, SMIC celebrated Reading Spirit Week with wonderful activities aimed to inspire all children to build a love for reading.
How is it possible that we’re already on the 8th week of school? Perhaps we are in a state that psychologists refer to as flow. Achieving this state can help students feel greater enjoyment, energy, and involvement.
SMIC-I Elementary School organized a Chinese Day to celebrate the National Day. As we start our 20th Anniversary of SMIC School we are excited to come together by having Bamboo Dancing and fun activities to share the joy, explore cultures of different Chinese ethnicities and learn how to appreciate different Chinese culture.

With the rise and development of the internet, the forms of Chinese variety shows have gradually diversified. In addition to the participation and entertainment that the show itself brings to the audience, preparations behind the cameras of these shows are also an indispensable part of the success of the show. To understand the production process and implementation of a successful show, the students of SMIC-I’s elective course Studying China Through Multimedia produced their own programs in groups to share with their classmates.
